Auschwitz Luggage

When prisoners arrived at Auschwitz, they were told to write their names, ages and addresses on the bags in order to easily reclaim their belongings when they leave the prison. The luggage in this photograph is a very, very small percentage of what truly existed. Hundreds of buildings were found on-site that housed luggage (and hundreds more containing clothing, jewelry, etc.).
