Birkenau Camp

Birkenau was the largest of concentration camps and was responsible for the majority of deaths. This view shows just a small portion of the 100 square miles of barracks that once housed prisoners. The barracks were overcrowded and full of vermin and lice. You can see the shell remnants of a crematorium in the middle of the picture.
