Leaving Brasov for Sinaia

This man shared our train compartment for the 1 hour train ride to Sinaia. He spoke only Romanian and looked like he had lived a very hard life. His left hand, which was on his knee, was missing all fingers with the exception of his middle finger. We guessed him to be in his late 90's. He had very soulful eyes and we wished there could have been a way for us to communicate with him, to hear about his life and what he had endured. We made an attempt, but only understood 'Nazi' and 'Ceausescu'...not sure what all he said, but I say a little prayer for him each time I look at this picture.
