Absinthe
Absinthe (a roman word meaning undrinkable)is flavoured distilled liquor, emerald green in colour and turns a cloudy, opalescent white when mixed with water. I had seen Absinthe in many shops and bars throughout Europe and figured...what's all the fuss about? I gotta try me some a that. So, Tim, Marisa, Christer and I meandered into a bar in Brasov called THE OPIUM BAR, which was actually quite cool inside. Marisa and I decided we'd give Absinthe a whirl. Here's what happened: The waiter brings a small glass, filled 1/4 with Absinthe. He placed a slotted spoon over the glass and then placed sugar cubes on top of the spoon. He took out a match, lit the alcoholic Absinthe and we all watched the sugar melt away, the Absinthe change color from deep clear green to a milky white. When all the sugar melted away, the waiter fanned the fire out, handed Marisa a straw and said, DRINK!
