Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood

This church was built on the exact location where Czar Alexander II was assassinated in March 1881. Alexander II was popular and liked by the majority of Russians, therefore the decision was made to build a church in his honor. The church was constructed from 1883-1907 and was funded primarily by the Imperial Family.
