Frederic Bartholdi

Some of you may be familiar with Bartholdi from his paintings, sculptures and photos, but he is most famous for making the Statue of Liberty. Bartholdi was from Colmar, although spent most of his life living in Paris. Colmar also hosts a smaller scale Statue of Liberty and just an FYI...the lady herself was designed in the likeness of Bartholdi's mother!
