EDINBURGH
SEPTEMBER 2008
We stayed at the Ardmor House Bed & Breakfast (http://www.ardmorhouse.com/home.html) while in Edinburgh. It had rave reviews everywhere I looked and we now understand why. Lovely! Great location, superb breakfast and ultra-chic but comfy. It's difficult to get reservations, it's THAT good.
One recommendation, per Ardmor House, was to dine at Fisher's by the Shore, in Leith(http://www.fodors.com/world/europe/scotland/edinburgh/review-46105.html). We had inquired on a good 'fresh seafood, locals-only place' and Fisher's was the answer. It was added that we should absolutely make reservations, as the restaurant only offers 12 tables. Reservations we made, but could only manage to get in for lunch the first day. We went, we ate, we drank, we loooved. Loved so much we requested dinner reservations the following night. YUM. Should you visit (and I HIGHLY recommend you do), get the oysters! Oh my goodness..best I've had....mix of salt/freshwater make these babies sheer perfection. Clean, crisp, fresh deliciousness. Why oh why can't there by a Fisher's in Germany?
