During our trip to Krakow, Poland, we decided to visit the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps (about 1 1/2 hours away).  It was very sombering, as one would expect.  Glass encased rooms filled with hair, luggage, shoes all from victims of these two camps.  It was truly sickening to see the size of the Birkenau camp - where on a daily basis, 8,000 people lost their lives.
