BERCHTESGADEN, GERMANY
SEPTEMBER 2005

Berchtesgaden is a small beautiful village in the southern part of Germany, bordering Austria.  Hitler chose to build his home overlooking Berchtesgaden, in a smaller village named Obersalzberg (translating to 'Over Salzburg').  The hotel we stayed at is named 'Hotel zum Tuerken' and was the nearest neighbor to Hitler's home, which was destroyed in April 1945.  I have included photographs of what remains of Hitler's home (more or less foundation, at this point).  The Nazi party spent millions of dollars building a retreat for Hitler and it was named the Eagle's Nest.  It sits high on a mountain, therefore was unscathed during WWII, and is open to the public.
