NURNBERG, GERMANY
DECEMBER 2005 - CHRISTKINDLESMARKT
Some of you may already be familiar with the Christkindlesmarkts of Germany. Multiple vendors set up streetside tents at the beginning of Advent (the last weekend of November) and stay put through Christmas Eve. They sell a variety of handcrafted gifts ranging from the cheesy to the exquisite. Christkindlesmarkt got its start in the 1600's in Nurnberg. Today, Nurnberg continues with this 400 year old tradition by hosting what has become the world's largest Christkindlesmarkt. Due to all the hype, Christer and I made the 3 hour trek to Nurnberg to check things out ourselves. We were not disappointed. And as fate should have it, snow fell heavily on us the entire weekend, adding to the holiday ambience. It was beautiful and magical. Check it out.....
