BERLIN, GERMANY
JULY 2005
Christer and I decided to visit Berlin for 4th of July weekend. It's a beautiful, sprawling city . We visited Checkpoint Charlie, saw remainders of the Wall, and ate at a fantastic restaurant called 'Dunkel Restaurant', which translated to English, means Dark Restaurant (www.dunkel-restaurant.com) . The restaurant is pitch black, no lights (you cannot see your hand in front of your face) and is staffed by blind people. By eliminating your vision, it is said that your other senses will be heightened. This was true. The food smelled more aromatic that usual, our hearing became more keen and the flavors just burst in your mouth! It was a truly unique and delightful experience!! But be warned: DON'T WEAR WHITE!! Also, if you happen to venture into Berlin, check out the restaurant Bocca di Bacco (www.boccadibacco.de). Oh yum, this food was good!
