DUBLIN, IRELAND
MARCH 2005 - ST. PATRICK'S DAY

I was expecting a madhouse zoo for St. Patty's day in Dublin.  Well, there were lots of people, but it seemed pretty much under control.  The Irish are my absolute favorite people in the world  - they are all super nice and have that dry wit, leaving you unsure whether you should laugh or scratch your head and ponder a bit longer.  While Christer and I walked leisurely along the Liffey River, locals would actually stop and ask us, truly and meaningfully, ask us how we were doing, chat about the St. Patty's Day parade, give us tidbits of information, where to go, what to do, where to eat....and they were right on!!  Love the Irish!  Bias, maybe (the Driscoll in me), but none-the-less, captivated by this big city with a small town feel.

And should you stay in Dublin, might I recommend the lovely Morrison Hotel and it's oh-so-delicious restaurant, Halo (www.morrisonhotel.ie).  Both are pretty hip and modern, but in a comfortable way...and Morrison has a great area to hang out for social gatherings and drinks.  Oh...and stop by one of the little street stands for some potato wedges that come with your choice of like 20 dipping sauces...yum...tastes good with Guinness (but doesn't everything?).
