ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
CONTINUED......

Our second day in St. Petersburg consisted of us waking up bright and early and heading out to the Peterhof Palace, which is 29 km outside of St. Petersburg.....in the city of Peterhof or Petrodvorets.  We spent the better part of the morning tour the interior of this massive palace, as well as taking time to enjoy the scenic gardens and fountain area, overlooking the Gulf of Finland.  We left Peterhof and headed toward St. Petersburg, where we visited St. Isaac's Cathedral.  At this point, our hunger had kicked and to satisfy it, we had a fantastic lunch at Hotel Astoria.  Yum! Our lunch consisted of borscht soup, chicken kiev with roasted potatoes and chocolate mousse.  To accompany such delicacies was Russian sparkling wine and vodka.  Hey!  When in Rome!  After lunch, we headed to Peter and Paul Fortress and toured the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, where the Russian Imperial familes are buried.  Then it was back to the ship to set sail for Tallinn, Estonia!
