Amsterdam!  Amsterdam!  This was my first visit to this magnificent city and I'm left scratching my head as to why I haven't made the trip before.  The waterways, the bicyclists, the leaning apartment buildings that line the streets.....loved it!

While walking the streets, we happened upon a boat crew that was apparently mining for bicycles at the canal bottom.  With two tug boats and a massive crane, the crew churned the bottom of the water and within moments, revealed their loot of corroded and rusted bicycles that had fallen into the canal...perhaps on accident, perhaps on purpose. This is a city that travels via bicycle, so to see the amount of bicycles being uncovered was amazing.  And this was just one little section of one canal they were covering.  Makes me wonder how many PEOPLE fall in.....

And to broach the subject we all are curious about....pot.  Yup...it's still legal here and yup...people are smoking it on the streets. It's crazy to walk by shops and get hit in the face with that 'certain' smell. Not sure if it something the locals partake in, or just the tourists....but its quite comical.
