DINGLE PENINSULA
JULY 2007
Being that my Aunt Lynn, cousin Samantha and her friend Jessica were making a visit to Europe, I decided Ireland should be a must-see (for it is this side of the family where my Irish heritage comes from). This was their first trip to Ireland, my third to Killarney (and fifth to Ireland). I just never tire of it....I've come to have dear friends in Killarney that I look forward to visiting perhaps moreso than the scenery.
Our trip to Ireland was a short one, but we did take time to get a day tour of the Dingle Peninsula, which is the western most peninsula of Ireland, and about 1 hour from Killarney. Although the weather didn't cooperate much with us that day, we had a lovely time. Our driver was Eddie, whom you might recognize from the Killarney 2 photos, when visiting Killarney with my sister, Tracey. He is a lovely, lovely man and makes me laugh so hard my sides and cheeks hurt by the end of the day. He is a delight and if you ever, ever, EVER visit Killarney, you must book a tour (private or bus) through Corcoran tours and ask for Eddie. Just can't say enough about him!
We made our way to The Laurel's pub several times, for Guinness and meals. Their food was quite good and I must admit, I was expecting bar food, but what we had was exceptional. And of course, my Irish charmer, Christie works here and will certainly show you a good time. A definite stop if you are in town! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of Christie this trip, but you can see him and his handsome self under 'Killarney 2'.
