LAKE BLED, SLOVENIA
AUGUST 2007

I have been longing to visit Lake Bled, as I've heard so many rave reviews. Finally, I can say that I fully understand why it has the reputation that it has.  Surrounded by glorious mountains, castles, churches, cafes and a large lake that allows no motorized boats....it is a little slice of peaceful heaven.  The water in Lake Bled is the clearest lake water I've seen in my life. It beckons to you......

Our lazy afternoon in Lake Bled led us to a lakeside cafe along Lake Bled, then on to a gondola type boat ride taking you from shore to the lake center, where the Church of Mary the Queen on Bled Island is, a quick jaunt around the island and then back to shore for a typical Slovenia cream pie dessert.  This is an ideal place to relax and unwind, taking in all that natures offers.  It's only a 40 minute drive from Ljubljana and is well worth the short drive.
