Cyprus became independent in 1960 - the language spoken is mainly Greek.  It is the 3rd largest island in the Mediterranean (after Sardinia and Sicily) and offers 330 days of sunshine.  I don't know about you, but all that sunshine sounds good to me....

Pafos is about one hours drive from Limassol.  The ruins and archaelogical are worthy enough to have found their way on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.  And the beachside is stunning.
