PARIS, FRANCE
OCTOBER 2007
Christer and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on October 7, 2007. We debated how to celebrate this special occasion and came up with a solution: Paris! Is there a more romantic place to spend an anniversary? And it juuuuust so happened that Feist was playing in concert at La Cigale in Pigalle (small venue in Paris) our anniversary weekend (and she was amazing). So, my eager little fingers got to work researching a cool, boutique hotel in Paris that would be ideal for our celebration. Within a short time, I came across a gem of a place: Hotel Petit Moulin (http://www.hotelpetitmoulinparis.com/) . The hotel was designed by famed fashion designer, Christian Lacroix. Now, that may not mean anything to you men, but to us women...DREAMY! Hotel Petit Moulin is a beautiful, chic, funky hotel with superb service, found in the Marais section of Paris.
Philippe, at Hotel Petit Moulin, made a suggestion for our 'anniversary dinner'. We mentioned that we'd prefer to eat amongst the locals, something similar in style to our hotel. He suggested Kong (http://www.kong.fr/), an uber-chic restaurant designed by Philip Starke, situated near the Pont Neuf bridge and Louis Vuitton headquarters. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The food was spectacular, the decor was hip and the view of the Pont Neuf bridge (and LV)...stunning. And just an FYI....Kong appears in the last Sex in the City episode!
Our original plan was to spend Saturday, October 6-Tuesday, October 9 in Paris. As luck should have it, Christer found out a few weeks prior to our trip, that he had a business meeting Tuesday - Friday in of all places...Paris! So we extended our trip and stayed a full week. While Christer worked during the day, I hooked up with my new best friend, Lori (the wife of Dan, who was also in Paris for the meeting). Us girls hit every end of Paris imaginable and found plenty of time to shop. Pretty sure we spend one entire day, total, in Printemps. Aahhh...the life!
The more I visit Paris, the more I fall in love with it. This trip took me to a few places I'd not yet ventured in the past. Each new sight, new restaurant, new experience deepens my passion for this city. Paris is unlike any city in the world in its mix of history, modernism, romanticism, culture and excellence. I cherish the memories of each visit to this magical city and I anxiously await my next......
