CAPERNAUM, ISRAEL
NOVEMBER 2007
Capernaum is situated along the shores of the Sea of Galilee. It is believed to have been the home of the apostles, Peter, Andrew, James and John. And, of course, Jesus. When you enter Capernaum, you are greeted with a large sign stating "CAPHERNAUM - THE TOWN OF JESUS". It is here that Jesus taught in the synagogue of Capernaum and healed the sick. The area features the synagogue in which Jesus taught, the house of St. Peter, a church dedicated to St. Peter and acres of beautiful ruins scattered with tropical trees and flowers.
Not far down the road (maybe 2 miles) is the village of Tabgha. Tabgha is where Jesus is believed to have fed 5,000 people from two fish and five loaves of bread. This location is found within a small church, The Church of the Multiplication.
