PROVENCE
AUGUST 2008
Aaaahhhh...Provence. Thoughts of Provence conjure up ideas of sunflower and lavendar fields, Roman ruins, chateaus and gastronomic delights accompanied by heavenly wines. And yup, that is exactly what Provence is...in August, anyway. Most of our time was spent in Tavel, Gigondas, Auvignon, Aubignan, and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. What began as a trip to visit some of the better known sights quickly took a turn to focus on wine, wine and more wine. No regrets.
The chateau we chose to stay in for our far-too-short duration was Le Vallon. I spent numerous hours searching for "THE" perfect chateau and yes, Le Vallon fell right into that category. The website for Le Vallon accurately reflects what this chateau is all about - check it out at http://www.vallon-provence.com. And should you ever visit the Provence region, make this chateau your home. I will be posting some photos of the chateau on the website, but since I'm short on time for the moment, I've posted pics from our trip. If you want to see more about the chateau, you can visit www.tripadvisor.com and type in Le Vallon or christine32804, to see my reviews. The owners, Fred and Michele Vogt are just as lovely as the estate...you won't want to leave. As a result of the graciousness of our hosts, the beauty of Provence and the central location, this easily fell into our top 5 destinations visited.
